Port Aransas!

The Texas beach, or as Texans like to say "the coast".  Never been a huge fan.  And after our recent visit, still not a huge fan - especially of the Summer heat.  Maybe that is where I am going wrong.  Our next visit must be in the fall or spring, then I can make my final assessment.  As far as the trip goes though, it was great fun.  With the added bonus of having some concentrated time to spend with our daughter.  THAT made it all worth it.  We stayed at the IB Magee Nueces County Beach Park.  All camping at the Texas beach is void of shade (as was this park), but it was a nice park.  The bathroom facilities were excellent - clean, AIR CONDITIONED, and only campers were allowed use via a key card.  Very nice and secure.  The park staff was very friendly and accommodating.  The spot that was chosen for us, was not ideal for our monster trailer, so they allowed us to move to a better spot.  None of the spots are level that we could see, so if you visit, bring leveling blocks!

Now, on to our adventures.  The first day was spent on the beach.  Meh.  The seaweed was at a normal annoyance level and the water was the usual Texas brown.  As long as we were under our shade or in the water it wasn't so bad.  I'm more of a fresh water type of gal, can you tell?  We spent most of the next day on a catamaran trip.  What fun was that!  Buck was in heaven and Anna got to sunbathe (sun burn was the real story).  Captain Tom took us our to a little island where we got to collect sea shells.  Lots and lots of sea shells.  The temp on the water was amazingly cooler than on land and the trip was very enjoyable.  Buck and Anna both got to steer the boat and we were all entertained by Captain Tom's antics.  That evening we went to the Crazy Cajun for dinner and Anna and I both got the steam pot of crab, mud bugs, and shrimp.  Yum.  Could have eaten another pound of that crab!

Even though we brought home our usual share of the sand from the beach (if you don't know, Texas beaches have the finest, most annoying sand on EARTH), we had a great time.  Now we plan for Colorado...but first some photos.

Sammy came along too :)
