Busy, busy, busy

If you want to hit the ground running and keep moving while traveling, take a young person with you. They never get tired. We arrived at our based camp for our first 2 weeks on Tuesday. Since then we have explored the lake via kayak, gone thrifting at the local thrift stores, visted a quaint little town in the mountains, shopped in old Colorado City, visted the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Helen Hunt Falls. All in 2.5 days. Whew.

First stop was the lake. We took turns in the yaks. Anna was a beast and went out every turn. The lake is small and full of motor boats, but still fun. :)

I should digress and show our current homesite. Love, love, love this campground. The spots are very roomy and we chose one that is exceptionally private.

If you enjoy watching birds you would love it here. Robins, Magpies, Wrens, Crows, Hawks and Herons are just the ones we can identify. Need to put a Colorado birD guide on my wish list.  Also a few critters around - prairie dogs, bunnies and chipmunks.

We looked at the map and decided to do a little exploring. We chose Georgetown, Colorado. Good choice. Very quaint and smack in the middle of the mountains. The drive was gorgeous too.

Today was our adventure to the zoo and the falls. Climb, climb, and climb some more. (The altitude is still a challenge for me)  The zoo is a masterpiece and I will want to visit again and again. If you have a thought to visit Seven Falls- skip it and go to Helen Hunt Falls instead.  The drive is amazing and it's free.

That is all for now!  Will BBS.
